CHARLES A. CALDWELL, II has over 18 years of legal experience including 17 years of civil litigation experience involving business disputes, real estate transactions, and major construction projects. Charles litigates, negotiates, reviews and drafts contracts in each of these areas. Charles Caldwell’s primary practice areas are civil litigation and real estate law, from commercial and residential construction projects to property tax appraisal protests. He also handles probate and estate matters, title issues, residential leases, equipment leases, and insurance and bonding issues. Charles Caldwell also has years of experience in real estate asset management, including real estate sales and closings, short sales, deeds in lieu of foreclosure, and evictions. Charles Caldwell spent several years representing banks, mortgage servicers and government entities overseeing the entire mortgage process including originations, modifications, and foreclosures, as well as ad valorem tax appraisals, protests, collections and foreclosure. Mr. Caldwell also served as one of the lead attorneys, hired by the State of California, to conduct a special investigation regarding mortgage fraud.
Mr. Caldwell has proven civil appellate experience, having presented appellate arguments to the United States 5th Circuit Court of Appeals and the Court of Appeals for the Fifth District of Texas. Over the years, Charles has practiced in the areas of business litigation, corporate formations, civil appeals, wills and trusts, personal injury, criminal law and family law. Charles Caldwell has created several Texas for profit and nonprofit corporation, drafted corporate by laws and other corporate governance documents. During law school, Charles worked as an intern with the Federal Trade Commission, prosecuting persons involved in fraudulent and deceptive business practices. He was also an intern with Legal Services of North Texas, protecting low income families from real estate fraud and deceptive lending practices.
Charles is admitted to practice law before the United States 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the Southern District of Texas, the Eastern District of Texas and the Texas State Supreme Court. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, J.L. Turner Legal Association and the Dallas Bar Association. He is a former member of the State Bar College and a former member of the Association of Trial Lawyers. Charles is on the Board of Directors of several nonprofit organizations throughout the state of Texas. Charles is also and active volunteer for youth mentoring programs and animal rescue shelters.
